3-5 Minute Summary of our FB page to the rest of the class
WHO: For social "mediaphiles", students, or those seeking a break from the daily grind
WHAT: A uniquely humorous and fun page
WHERE: Site Address: https://www.facebook.com/ourpage4UW
WHEN: NOW! or whenever you feel like it...
WHY: Because we've asked you to check it out and we'd especially like you to SHARE it, COMMENT on it, and LIKE it. So that we can explore it's full functionality and interact with your Social Media sites, too.
Hi, I can't seem to insert this below the chart so I'll put my comments here. This is Cathy. My goals for the facebook project are more about learning how to use features of FB I haven't used and, of course, coming up with creative ways to engage fans. Features to use could include:
Polling
QR Code?
Create custom tabs
Places feature
Explore and measure different methods of engaging fans:
Create an event?
Tagging
apps
Ideas for engagement: Make it fun! I'm a little burned out on Social Media posts :-) and hope our fans don't only want that type of content. I'd rather just make it fun...but that is just me. Here's some ideas for engaging our fans. This is meant as a springboard to get our creative juices flowing: ¨Have a “design our facebook cover” contest. Fans submit photos or design ideas and then poll everyone for the winner or Tell fans we want to change our profile photo and post our 3 choices and ask them to vote on their favorite. ¨Contact last week’s speaker and tell him we want to run a “Help a Non-Profit” campaign with our fans where we pose a question and ask for their best ideas. Ask him to submit to us what he’d want the question to be and then let the fans submit their best idea. ¨Post screen shots of our analytics – have them take the journey with us. ¨Have a PHONE photo contest with a different theme each week. (Pets, commuting, social media, weather, bad dressers, etc.) ¨Generate a QR code and put it in a post. ¨Do 30 second interviews of classmates on (whatever) and post. ¨Post a photo of (whatever) and ask fans to record a humorous caption. ¨Post inspirational quotes. ¨Find an interesting way to Feature info about little known features of facebook ¨On the cover photo put a thought-provoking quote or stats related to Social Media. Change it each week or each day. ¨Make Friday “Fan Day” and allow fans to show off and brag a little. ¨ Have them comment by doing a “Fill in the blank” “My favorite part of social media marketing is ….or “The think I dislike most about Twitter is ” ¨ Ask Fans to” Pick-A-Side” by asking an easy Yes/No question. Ask fans to express their opinions in the comments if they agree/disagree.¨ Find a T-shirt that is thought-provoking and ask what they think of it. ¨Near Christmas, ask fans for their best “green” gift idea for under $50 or..... whatever.¨Find a way to create a campaign that creates a ripple of kindness around Seattle.¨ Make use of Cartoons, memes, inspirational quotes, jokes and anything that made people feel good and amused. Could be a comic, a funny quote, screenshot of something controversial, etc.¨ Ask a multiple choice question and then post the answer in 24 hours.¨ Use simple questions; “Real or Fake?” Or “What is your story?” Or ”What do you think?”¨ Around the holidays, start a contest to see who has the best suggestion for having a “green” holiday.¨ After sharing something useful, have a call to action like “Please share this with someone who needs it.¨ Do a screen shot of our something interesting on an interesting webpage and encourage them to go to it.
Also, here's another take on a content calendar that allows us to capture a little more detail: It's not pasting in very pretty, but you get the idea. (The content is just fake stuff I put in)
10/17 Assignments (Constance)
Fatima -- Create page (thanks!)
Everyone else-- Create frontloaded content. We need some pictures and graphics, the first question and some news/current events. Please note what you want to work on for the launch AND what you'd like to accomplish in our group project:
Cathy -- [mentioned pictures]
Ruth -- [mentioned polling]
Daryl -- [mentioned that you have some awesome content]
Constance -- Schedule content calendar based on research what was popular for our group page, including timing, topics, etc.
Fatima -- run a campaign, polling, maybe try out an app depending upon complexity. Measure based on overall class participation whether its likes or comments. It would be really cool to get to the insights function if we can get enough likes.
Possible content:
Social media news
News news
FOOD
Questions
Election

Looking ahead: We have to present in 3 weeks. Start thinking of a case study you want to research! I think we should each research one company, let's confer to determine how many are "good" and "bad."
